While studying for a degree in Emergency Management I realized that there was a gap between what the Federal, State and local emergency plans said, and what happens in real life. All of the plans state that the disability community "should" be included - unfortunately, in real life Emergency Managers have neither the time, the personnel, nor the budget to accomplish this task despite their best intentions.
We are facilitating discussions between the disability community in all of its various guises and the Emergency Management community to assure a seat at the table for the whole community. We will be holding hearings, meetings, conducting surveys and various get-togethers to make sure your voices are heard.
Did you know that by the year 2030 the combined disability and elder population will encompass between 35% and 40% of residents in New Hampshire alone?! With the unpredictability of our changing climate, failing infrastructure, and increasingly more powerful storms it is only a matter of time before the a catastrophe comes our way.
We know how to keep you prepared and safe.
Become a volunteer with The Whole Community and make a difference in the lives of others. We offer a variety of opportunities to get involved and give back to your community.
